Emeryville is the second densest city in the Bay Area, after San Francisco. Emeryville measures 1.2 square miles. Emeryville has made a marked change in the past 10 years, redeveloping much of the city. Emeryville may have changed more than any city in the country in the past 10 years. There are more than 5 large, active construction sites. Emeryville has been growing at a very rapid pace.

The current Emery-Go-Round bus shuttle service is very successful. 17 Transportation Management Association members (Catellus, Spieker, Pixar, Chiron, IKEA, Marriott, etc.) fund the free service. EGR carries more than 615,000 passengers per year. During peak hours, buses are jammed and service is frequent. EGR takes 1,500+ cars off the streets each day.

Emeryville's Amtrak station is one of the nation's busiest, with 500,000 riders per year. Amtrak is planning on improvements to increase use of this station. The IKEA superstore is generating 16,000 visits per day on the weekends.
