Survey to Plan Your Hacienda Commute Future
Dear Survey Participant:
Thank you for your time in taking this important survey. You are now at the
final stage. You should have already received your customized commute profile
from the 511 Regional Rideshare program. In the profile, you have been provided
tools which will allow you to evaluate likely commute alternatives (ways of
commuting other than driving alone). These evaluation tools include
considerations such as driving time and the cost of commuting. We hope that this
information will serve two functions: (1) a way to provide you with some good
information on your current commute method and commute options that you can
consider today, and (2) a guide to use in taking our survey as we explore
factors that could help determine your commute future!
The survey you are about to take may be somewhat different than other surveys
you have taken or may have heard about. Many surveys ask very simple,
straightforward questions and then ask you to respond with a ranking or
numerical response. This survey will also have you evaluate ideas and provide
information. However, you will also find that this survey requires more reading
and asks more complex questions than typical surveys. The survey will have you
consider various scenarios by providing you with a narrative to describe a
situation before soliciting your response. The narratives are specially designed
to provide a thought-provoking experience which will have you weigh several
aspects of a situation as a means of helping to inform your response.
The survey is also different in that the questions will differ somewhat depending on the choice of commute alternative (again, the mode of commuting other than driving alone) you select at the beginning of the survey. This is where your customized commute profile will be of value. The pre-survey that you have already completed, used to prepare your customized commute profile, will likely suggest that a certain commute alternative is preferable in terms of its ability to provide the most reliable and effective way of getting you to and from work. The commute alternatives evaluated by the survey, of which you will choose one based on the alternative that would be the dominant mode in your commute, are as follows:
Carpool - commute by carpool or vanpool as either a passenger or a driver (for commutes that are shorter in duration [or vanpools for longer commutes] where your commute pattern matches that of someone else who both lives and works in relatively close proximity the places where you live and work)
Train - commute by train (for commuters who bike, walk, drive, or take a bus to a train station)
Bus - commute by bus (for commuters who are in relatively close proximity to any of the services terminating at the park [WHEELS, County Connection, Tri-Delta Express, San Joaquin Regional Transit District, MAX])
Bike/Walk - commute by biking or walking (for commuters who are less than three miles to the park or who are interested in combining commuting and exercise from greater distances)
Flexpool Passenger - commute via a dynamic ride arrangement along defined corridors (for commuters who live in relatively close proximity to the park and who want to rideshare as needed along Village Parkway, Dougherty Road, Vineyard Avenue\Santa Rita Road, Valley Avenue or Hopyard Road)
On
completion of the survey, all participants will receive a coupon good for lunch
at either Chevy’s, Sweet Tomatoes or Red Robin in Hacienda. Be sure to note your
preference at the end of the survey in the space provided. In addition,
participants will be entered into a drawing for a video iPod. The drawing for
this prize will occur once all surveys are received.
Again, we thank you for your time and input as we help create a Hacienda's
future. Should you need assistance or require help with the survey, please feel
