June '01 Update
Poskey becomes ATRA Executive Director. Cities21 member Jeral Poskey completed his first year at Stanford business school, where he spent two courses researching personal rapid transit business models. This summer, Jeral takes on the role of Executive Director for the Advanced Transit Association, http://www.advancedtransit.org/. The Advanced Transit Association was formed to focus attention on unmet urban transportation needs and the ways in which advanced transit concepts can help satisfy them. A number of exciting transit technologies have been developed that will offer high levels of transit service and contribute to economic prosperity. ATRA will be sponsoring a booth at the July 7-11 San Francisco Automated People Movers Conference, which will showcase the latest developments in personal rapid transit technology.
Raney heads for Berkeley. Cities21 founder Steve Raney has stepped off the Silicon Valley techno-treadmill to work full time for Cities21 this summer. Steve will be starting a Berkeley masters program in the fall in their City and Regional Planning / Transportation Program, studying applications of advanced feeder transit for Silicon Valley technology parks and suburbs.
